Duo Primevère
Named after the first song cycle by French composer and violinist Claire Delbos, the art song duo Primevère was founded in 2019 by soprano Sofia Livotov and pianist Natalia Pegarkova-Barenboim. Passionate about performing lesser-known repertoire, the duo focuses on music by female composers and artist couples. The two musicians met in 2018 at a mutual chamber music concert in the Wismar town hall. Their first concert programme The Genius of Lovers examined the musical relationship between couples such as Clara and Robert Schumann, Alma and Gustav Mahler and Claire Delbos and Olivier Messiaen. It was first presented in Berlin in the summer of 2019. During the Beethoven anniversary year, the duo was invited by the concert series Beethoven Bei Uns to perform songs and piano music by the composer. For the celebration of International Women's Day 2020 in Berlin, the musicians created another programme The Air I Breathe featuring music by female composers from all over the world. In June 2022, it was performed again in Salzburg at the Maria-Anna-Mozart-Society.

The Genius of Lovers
Intimate artistic relationships between two people have always held a fascination for the outside world. How did the artists influence each other?
Was the relationship an advantage or even a hindrance to their artistic work? The concert programme The Genius of Lovers introduces three artist couples from the 19th and 20th centuries: Robert & Clara Schumann, Gustav & Alma Mahler and Claire Delbos & Olivier Messiaen. In addition to a selection of well-known pieces, the programme offers a number of rarities from the art song and piano repertoire, such as the song cycle 'Primèvere' by Claire Delbos and the 'Adagietto' from Gustav Mahler's Fifth Symphony, arranged for solo piano.
The audience is invited to get to know the composer couples from a new perspective and to immerse themselves in their world of music. Are the couples at eye level or are they in each other's shadow? A question for the listeners to decide...

Die in Hannover aufgewachsene Sopranistin Sofia Livotov ist eine international gefragte Opern- und Konzertsängerin, die sich in Kunstlied, Oper und zeitgenössischer Musik gleichermaßen zu Hause fühlt. Sofia trat an Konzertorten wie der Tonhalle Zürich, dem Oxford Lieder Festival, dem Southbank Centre London, TivoliVredenburg und der Konzertbühne in Jakarta auf. Seit 2022 steht Sofia auf der Bühne der Opera North in Leeds und war in Produktionen wie "Das schlaue Füchslein", "La Rondine" und "Simon Boccanegra" zu erleben. Zu ihren jüngsten Engagements zählen Auftritte mit dem English Symphony Orchestra, dem Orchester des Wandels, bei der Leeds International Concert Series sowie die Solopartien in Mendelssohns Oratorien "Elias" und "Paulus" mit dem Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir, der Halifax Choral Society und der Bradford Festival Choral Society. Sofia trat mit international renommierten Ensembles auf, darunter den Festival Strings Lucerne, dem Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich und der Sinfonietta Zürich. Neben zeitgenössischen Opernproduktionen am Luzerner Theater und am Tête à Tête Festival in London, stand sie unter anderem als Pamina, Musetta, Adina, Micaela und Yvette auf der Bühne. Sofia ist Stipendiatin Schweizer, deutscher und britischer Stiftungen und absolvierte ihr Gesangsstudium an der Hochschule Musik Luzern und am Conservatorium van Amsterdam bei Valérie Guillorit. Derzeit wird sie stimmlich von Nelly Miricioiu in London betreut.

Die Pianistin Natalia Pegarkova-Barenboim ist neben ihrer Solokarriere eine leidenschaftliche Kammermusikerin. Sie ist in Berlin ansässig und steht häufig mit renommierten Musikern wie Michael Barenboim und Daniel Hope auf der Bühne. Ihr Repertoire ist vielfältig und reicht von dem frühen 18. Jahrhundert bis zur Musik von heute, wobei ein starker Schwerpunkt auf der klassischen und romantischen Ära liegt. Sie hat zwei Alben, die 2024 veröffentlicht werden sollen: eins, das ihre Zusammenarbeit mit Michael Barenboim an F. Mendelssohns "Lieder ohne Worte" zeigt, und ein Soloalbum mit Odradek Records. Im Rahmen ihres besonderen Engagements, klassische Musik an die jüngere Generation heranzuführen, verfasste sie das Buch "Warum Musik?". Natalia ist derzeit in das Projekt "Töne sprechen, Worte klingen" involviert, das darauf abzielt, klassische Musik und Literatur auf eine unterhaltsame und zugängliche Weise in die Welt von Kindern einzuführen.
