Verklärte Nacht

Zwei Menschen gehn durch kahlen, kalten Hain;

Ich hab mich schwer an mir vergangen;
ich glaubte nicht mehr an ein Glück
und hatte doch ein schwer Verlangen
nach Lebensfrucht, nach Mutterglück
und Pflicht - da hab ich mich erfrecht,
da ließ ich schaudernd mein Geschlecht
von einem fremden Mann umfangen
und hab mich noch dafür gesegnet.
Nun hat das Leben sich gerächt,
nun bin ich dir, o dir begegnet.

Sie geht mit ungelenkem Schritt,
sie schaut empor, der Mond läuft mit;
ihr dunkler Blick ertrinkt in Licht.
Die Stimme eines Mannes spricht:

Das Kind, das du empfangen hast,
sei deiner Seele keine Last,
o sieh, wie klar das Weltall schimmert!
Es ist ein Glanz um Alles her,
du treibst mit mir auf kaltem Meer,
doch eine eigne Wärme flimmert
von dir in mich, von mir in dich;
die wird das fremde Kind verklären,
du wirst es mir, von mir gebären,
du hast den Glanz in mich gebracht,
du hast mich selbst zum Kind gemacht.

Er fasst sie um die starken Hüften,
ihr Atem mischt sich in den Lüften,
zwei Menschen gehn durch hohe, helle Nacht.

GRAND TRIO VILNIUS

Three virtuoso musicians - cellist, conductor David Geringas, pianist Petras Geniusas and violinist Dalia Kuznecovaitė started playing together in 2021. Grand Trio Vilnius was formed decades ago. For years the leading lithuanian clarinettist Algirdas Budrys was a member of the trio along with David Geringas and Petras Geniušas. Element of modernity and especially the spread of Lithuanian contemporary music was and still is very important to this collective. Works by Bronius Kutavičius, Anatolijus Šenderovas and Faustas Latenas among others are often included in trio programs. Another area of interest is rarities of piano trio repertoire. Grand Trio Vilnius recently recorded both string sextets by Brahms arranged for piano trio by Theodor Kirchner. The new addition to the Grand Trio repertoire is Schoenberg’s Transfigured Night arranged for piano trio by Eduard Steuermann and two world premieres. In the near future Grand Trio Vilnius is preparing two new programs and giving concerts in Lithuania, Germany and Italy.

The Lithuanian cellist and conductor David Geringas belongs to the musical elite of today. An unusually broad repertoire from the early Baroque to the contemporary is testament to the flexibility and curiosity of the artist. His intellectual rigor, his stylistic versatility, his melodic feeling, and the sensuousness of his tone have brought him praise the world over. The Rostropovich pupil and gold-medal winner of the 1970 Tchaikovsky Competition can now look back on a career that has spanned decades. David Geringas has performed world-wide with some of the leading orchestras, and important conductors of our time.

Petras Geniusas is one of the most prominent, versatile and adventurous Lithuanian performers. Having mastered an extensive repertoire of classical, romantic and contemporary works, he frequently appears in recitals and concerts with Lithuanian symphony orchestras, and various chamber ensembles and musicians. He has shared a stage with such giants as Rostropovich, Menuchin, Kniazev, Geringas, Chekassin, Tarasov among others.

First prize and gold medal winner of the international H. Szeryng competition (2008), winner of J. Brahms competition (2008), lithuanian violinist Dalia Kuznecovaite has worked with conductors such as M. Rostropovich, M. Sanderling, M. Diadiura, E. Batiz, F. Mastrangelo, S. Sondeckis, A. Poga, E. Korkmaz. The violinist has been the primaria of Vilnius String Quartet since December of 2015. Being very keen on teaching, she joined the teaching faculty of the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in September 2016.
